Years passed and his fishing his ability improved. He occasionally got the odd boot once and a while, but still caught enough fish to sell and make a good life for himself. One day in his old age, while walking out along the docks, he saw the same diamond washed up on the beach. The years at sea had softened its sharp corners and worked away the dirt and muck he himself could not scrub away. He smiled at it then tossed it back into the ocean.
